BOXS

BOXS POS - Dine-in Mode

Background

The current UI of the POS system has received negative feedback froh completion of dine-in orders management. However, there is significant potential for improvement in terms of usability.

Challenges

  • The current UI Design requires a redesign to make the pos look more modern and trustworthy.

  • Define the necessary table order statuses that need to be displayed to users in the revamped POS system UI

  • Insufficient touch area for distinguishing between the two actions.

  • Multiple buttons with different labels but representing the same function, leading to unnecessary complexity.

Goal

  • Design a clear and user-friendly interface that effectively communicates each table order status to users.

  • Improve the visual and interactive design, ensuring users understand the different outcomes associated with each action.

  • Streamline the user experience by reducing the time users spend trying to determine the correct action for the table or bill.

Competitive Analysis

Recognizing that POS is not an innovative product, we focus on understanding user habits, typical workflows, and successful patterns in competitive products. This analysis helps identify missing gaps and unique value propositions to create an intuitive and user-friendly experience with minimal learning curve.

We conducted an extensive exploration of both traditional and new products, eventually narrowing down to three similar product positions for analysis. Through this process, we assessed the strengths and weaknesses of these products, specifically focusing on table management and bill status capabilities.

Ideate

Task flow

I created task flow for steps a user typically goes through in order to complete the full experience of dine-in tasks in BoxsPOS. User wants to create a bill , ordering food , checkout in efficient way. To ensure no missing status, I have subdivided all possible statuses for each action. Next, I focused on simplifying the interface and highlighting the most essential aspects that users care about the most.

Solution

  • Keep the table contains orders concept, remove the edge decoration to make it looks simple

  • Propose and define all status and colour to make it more informativeness

  • Redefined the button priority and keep the imperative button, to reduce user think time

  • Redesign the popover dialogue, chunking the Selected Area in three section, table info, bills , action button

  • To reduce the time required to create a bill, the new UX incorporates a fixed pop-up dialogue. This fixed pop-up dialogue ensures a consistent and intuitive user experience
